Cut & Beard

Haircut and beard in Sudbury, done in one sitting. This is not two appointments stapled together — it is the reason to book them together at all. When the cut and the beard are done by two different people on two different days, the sideburn is where it shows.

Why the two belong in one appointment

Your sideburn is the join. The fade on the side of your head runs down into it and the beard runs up into it, and if those two were cut a fortnight apart at different lengths there is a visible step where they meet. Done together, the beard is taken off the same guard the fade finished on and the whole side of your head reads as one piece.

The same goes for the cheek line and the top of the fade — they are parallel lines on the same face, and they only look parallel if they were judged against each other.

What happens in the chair

The haircut or skin fade first, whichever you have asked for, cut to the same standard as if it were booked on its own. Then a hot towel, then the beard — neckline, cheek line, corners, moustache off the lip — matched to the cut that just came off. Lined out, oiled, neck cleaned, checked in the mirror.

Seventy minutes, because doing both properly takes that. It is the longest booking on the list and the one most worth booking ahead for.

What it costs

$50 for both. The two booked separately come to $55, so it saves five dollars, but the real reason to book it is the join rather than the fiver.

How often to come back

Whatever cycle your hair is on — two to three weeks for a skin fade, four to six for a scissor cut. The beard will happily come with it.
