Kids Cut (under 12)

Kids haircuts in Sudbury, under-12s, at a price of their own. The whole thing is built around the fact that a child sitting still for thirty minutes is not a realistic expectation and pretending otherwise is how haircuts become something they dread.

How it goes

There is a booster board for the small ones so they sit at proper height rather than being held up. The clippers get shown and switched on before they go near anyone’s head, because the noise is what most of them are actually worried about, not the cut.

If they want to hold something, watch something or sit on a parent’s knee, that is fine. If they need a break halfway, that is fine too. Nobody is going to be told off for wriggling and nobody is going to be lectured about sitting still.

The cut itself is the same work as any other — washed if they will let it be, clippers and scissors, neck cleaned, checked in the mirror.

First haircuts

Say so when you book. A first haircut is a different job: it goes slower, it often ends up shorter at the back than planned because that is where they move most, and it is worth having a phone ready rather than discovering afterwards that nobody took a picture.

What to tell us

The length you want in guard numbers if you know them, or just point at the last photo where it looked right. Where the fringe should sit matters more to children than anything else, so be specific about that one.

$25 for under-12s, flat. Over twelve it is a standard haircut at $35.

How often

Six to eight weeks is usually enough. Children’s hair grows faster than adults’ but their cuts are generally softer, so they grow out more gracefully than a skin fade does.
